HOOTERS TOUR TO MAKE 1 STOP IN GEORGIA IN ‘07
John Kimbell of LaFayette, who has moved up to the Nationwide Tour this
year, won at Kinderlou Forest, giving him a chance to win again on the
same course, if not the same tour. Brent Delahoussaye, who grew up in
Alpharetta, will not get the chance to defend his title at Royal Lakes,
but Newnan’s Steve Gilley will get an opportunity to win for a second
straight years in the Kandy Waters Memorial event at Goshen Plantation
in September.
Gilley was eight on the Hooters money list last year, one of four
Georgians in the top 10 and among eight in the top 20. Augusta’s
Emmett Turner was 10th, Jonesboro’s Hank Kim 12th.
Woodstock D.J. Fiese 14th and Chris Stroud of Brunswick
18th. Stroud is a rookie on the PGA Tour this year.
Fiese won for the second time in two years on the Hooters tour in ’06,
with Kim, Stroud and Kimbell joining Fiese as winners in 2005. Eight
Georgians won Hooter’s Tour in events in ’05, including Blake Adams and
Josh Broadaway, both currently ranked on the Nationwide , former tour
veteran Dave Schreyer, whose 10 career Hooters victories are second
behind PGA Tour standout Chad Campbell, who won eight times in 2000
alone.
